About Danielle DeRuiter-Williams

Leadership, for me, has never been just a title or a set of responsibilities — it’s a process of becoming. Over the course of my career, I’ve partnered with leaders across government, nonprofits, and companies, guiding them through transition, complexity, and breakthrough moments. What I’ve learned at every level of this work is that leadership isn’t just about strategy — it’s about identity, clarity, resilience, and alignment between who you are and the impact you want to create.

I started this work because I saw too many capable, values-driven leaders holding themselves to standards that didn’t fit who they were becoming — leaders who were excellent at execution but struggling with visibility, influence, and internal coherence. I also witnessed organizations with deep mission commitment wrestle with power dynamics, culture gaps, and systems that undermined the very values they championed.

That lived experience — as a strategist, coach, facilitator, and human in process — informs how I work with individual leaders today. My approach blends strategic thinking, emotional literacy, and practical tools so that reflection actually translates into action. I hold space for both the internal landscape of leadership and the external realities you face, helping you move forward with confidence, clarity, and integrity.

I’m committed to supporting leaders who want not just to perform — but to lead in ways that are aligned with their purpose, grounded in awareness, and sustainable over time.

Grounded in Practice and Lived Experience

I know what it costs to carry responsibility, visibility, and expectation while quietly wondering whether the role you are in matches who you are.

In late 2020 my company went from three people to twenty-three in nine months. On paper that was the success I had been working toward. In my body it felt like a treadmill someone kept speeding up. The work had drifted from the reason I started the company, and I could feel the gap widening before I could explain it. I burned out. Coming back took a long time.

I wrote about what I learned from that in The Misalignment Tax, which names the cost you pay when your position and your purpose live in two different places. It is the piece leaders send me most often, usually with a note that says some version of this is me.

I also built a workbook to go with it. The Alignment Audit is seven days of tracking your energy instead of your time. Ten minutes a day, and at the end you have a page of your own handwriting showing where the tax is being collected. Free, and yours whether or not we ever talk.

Looking for Something More Heart-Centered?

Some individuals come to this work seeking deeper inner alignment, spiritual inquiry, and a more embodied approach to leadership beyond the context of organizational roles. These moments often arise during transitions, periods of burnout, questions of identity, or a desire to reconnect with purpose in a more personal and expansive way.

For those moments, we offer separate coaching, content, and experiences through Being Soulfully Aligned—a dedicated space for heart-centered leadership, self-concept work, nervous system awareness, and soulful growth. This work invites individuals to slow down, listen inward, and explore the beliefs, patterns, and identities that shape how they show up in their lives and leadership.

This work is offered outside of organizational consulting and is intentionally distinct from our advisory and coaching work with institutions. It is designed for individuals exploring who they are becoming—not just how they lead—through reflective practices, experiential learning, and guided inquiry that supports personal integration and long-term alignment.
